TESTIMONIALS
"The Rusk County Jail is an older facility that does not meet the current needs and safety of the inmates, staff, or the public. Inmate classifications, limited receiving cells, and other issues addressed in past inspection reports continue to be problematic and need to be addressed. The County should be commended for taking action to address and correct these issues."

"Rusk County has been considering construction of a new jail facility for several years. There are multiple reasons it’s necessary to build new rather than repair, but the most critical is the lack of current jail space to properly classify and house inmates. The safety and security of the staff and inmates is restricted due to the outdated linear design of the current jail. It is understood that a capital improvement project of this scope will have a fiscal impact to taxpayers; however, the need to act now is urgent as inflation remains elevated and costs continue to increase. A new facility will keep our tax dollars working more efficiently for Rusk County citizens."
